Well, hello Austell...
I’m Frankie, a holistic esthetician, herbalist, and the owner of Soma Wellness Spa here in Austell. And now, soon, I’ll also be opening Kina, a movement studio offering yoga, mat Pilates, somatic movement, and restorative movement classes right here in the community.
Yep, you heard that right...a movement studio.
And honestly, if you’ve followed my work for a while, this probably makes more sense than people may think at first.
Everything I’ve built over the years has always centered around helping people slow down, reconnect with themselves, and support the body in a more intentional way. Even through skincare and facials, my work has never just been about the surface. It has always been about what’s happening internally too, especially when it comes to stress, overwhelm, and the nervous system.
So when I started dreaming about Kina, I knew I didn’t want it to feel like another fitness space focused only on intensity or performance. I wanted to create something softer. Something grounding. A space where people could move their bodies while also supporting their nervous system at the same time.
So what exactly does that mean?
What does “nervous system-led movement” actually look like?
Let’s talk about it.
What Is the Nervous System and Why Does It Matter?
The nervous system is essentially the communication center of the body. It affects how we respond to stress, how we rest, how we recover, and, honestly, how safe we feel in our bodies overall.
And the reality is, many of us are walking around completely overstimulated.
We’re juggling work, parenting, responsibilities, schedules, constant notifications, and stress without ever truly slowing down long enough for the body to regulate itself. Over time, that can start showing up physically in ways people don’t always immediately connect back to stress.
It can look like...
- constantly feeling tense
- shallow breathing
- trouble sleeping
- brain fog
- fatigue
- tight shoulders and jaw tension
- feeling disconnected from your body
- difficulty relaxing even during rest
I see this all the time through my work as a holistic esthetician.
Sometimes clients will come in for a facial, and it takes almost the entire service for their body to finally start relaxing. Not because they’re doing anything wrong, but because many people have been operating in survival mode for so long that slowing down no longer feels natural.
That’s part of what inspired KINA.
I started thinking more deeply about how movement could become part of the conversation around nervous system support, not from a place of punishment or pressure, but from a place of care.
Because movement doesn’t always have to feel intense to be effective. Sometimes the body simply needs movement that feels supportive and sustainable.
How Does KINA Support Nervous System Regulation Through Movement?
At KINA, movement is meant to feel intentional.
That doesn’t mean classes won’t challenge you. They absolutely can. But the goal is not to leave class feeling depleted, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself afterward.
The goal is to help people feel more grounded in their bodies.
Through practices like mat Pilates, yoga, somatic movement, and restorative movement, we’re creating space for people to slow down enough to actually notice what their body needs.
That may look like focusing on breathwork during class. It may look like slower transitions. It may look like strengthening the body without rushing through movements. It may look like reconnecting with posture, mobility, and body awareness in a gentler way.
And honestly, I think there are a lot of people in Austell, Powder Springs, Lithia Springs, Mableton,, and surrounding areas who have been craving this type of environment without even realizing it.
Not everyone wants loud fitness spaces.
Not everyone connects with high-intensity workout culture.
Not everyone wants to feel pressured while moving their body.
Some people simply want a place where movement feels calming, approachable and supportive.
That’s what KINA is here to offer.
I also think it’s important to say that slower movement does not mean ineffective movement. There’s this misconception that movement only “counts” if it leaves you exhausted afterward, but that’s simply not true.
Intentional movement can still build strength.
It can still improve mobility.
It can still support flexibility, posture, stability, and endurance.
But it can also support the nervous system in the process.
And for many people, that creates a more sustainable relationship with wellness long term because they’re no longer approaching movement from a place of punishment.
You Don’t Have to “Be in Shape” to Start
One thing I really want people to know about KINA is that this space was created with beginners in mind too.
You do not need to already know yoga poses.
You do not need to already be flexible.
You do not need to lose weight first.
You do not need expensive workout sets or prior experience to belong here.
I know firsthand how intimidating wellness spaces can sometimes feel, especially when you already feel disconnected from your body or unsure where to start.
KINA is meant to feel approachable.
This is for the person who has been curious about Pilates but nervous to try. The person who wants movement but not an aggressive gym environment. The person craving softness, consistency, and community. The person trying to reconnect with themselves again.
There’s space for all of that here.
What Can You Expect at KINA?
Honestly, my hope is that KINA feels like an exhale for people. Not just physically, but emotionally too.
I want people to walk into the studio and feel like they don’t have to perform wellness here. They don’t have to prove anything. They can simply arrive as they are.
At KINA, you can expect:
- mat Pilates classes
- yoga classes
- somatic movement
- restorative movement
- beginner-friendly options
- intentional movement practices
- calming energy
- community-centered wellness
- movement that supports both body and mind
You can also expect a space that values softness, care, and sustainability when it comes to wellness.
Because I truly believe many people are no longer looking for wellness spaces that leave them feeling more drained than when they walked in. They’re looking for spaces that help fill their cup back up.
And that’s exactly what I hope KINA becomes for this community.
A place where people can move intentionally...
A place where people can reconnect with themselves...
A place where people can feel supported mentally, emotionally, and physically...
We’re so excited to bring this space to Austell and the surrounding communities, and honestly, this is just the beginning.
If you’ve been looking for a slower, more intentional approach to movement here in Austell, I’d love to invite you to be part of what we’re building at Kina.
Whether you’re completely new to yoga or Pilates, returning to movement after a long break or simply craving a space that feels more grounded and supportive, there’s space for you here.
